IPL 2021 tournament or India’s dress rehearsal before T20

Very soon, the IPL 2021 tournament will start in India. What innovations are waiting for players and fans of Cricket, we will tell you in our article.

Already on April 9, the famous IPL 2021 cricket Championship, or as it is also called “the dress rehearsal of the T20 Championship”, starts. The IPL tournament unites almost all Asian countries and attracts the eyes of millions of Cricket fans around the world.

The first match of the IPL2021 tournament will take place in Chennai, where the reigning champions Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore.

According to the representatives and organizers of IPL2021, the first games of the championship will be held without spectators. As for all subsequent meetings, what will primarily depend on the epidemiological situation in the country. The organizers say that the decision on the admission of fans to the stadiums will be made at a later stage of the IPL2021 tournament.

Unlike the Test Series, where India played England, and where in recent matches the governing body of Cricket India (BCCI) allowed fans to attend the stadiums (50% of the stadium occupancy), here the tournament with the participation of eight teams remains in question.  Each “step” must be weighed and thought out to the smallest detail, since the spread of Covid-19 in the country is still large.

Of course, we have no doubt that the governing body of cricket in India, the BCCI, will allow spectators at least for the reason that the IPL2021 tournament will literally be a dress rehearsal for the T20 Cricket World Cup in India and all possible options should not just be worked out, but also tested.

The new head of the Cricket Board, Jay Shah, said:

“The pandemic has created huge challenges for sports, particularly cricket, but history has shown that innovation often comes at times of adversity, and we must adapt and innovate to stay ahead. The ACC has done a groundbreaking job in these tournaments, and we need to build on that.”

In turn, the schedule of the tournament is designed in such a way that each team will play at four of the six sites for reaching the playoffs, that is, it will make only three trips.

The first 36 league matches will be split between Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi, while the next 20 will be played in Bangalore and Kolkata in May.
