The Australian and Qatar national football teams refused to participate in the America’s Cup

The fact that Australia and Qatar opposed participation in the America’s Cup was announced on March 4. This decision was announced by the sports publication “Reuters” referring to official data received from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).

At a press conference about the refusal to participate in the championship, the head coach of the Australian football team, Graham Arnold, said:

“With each round, we are getting closer to the championship title, because our team very quickly became the leader, and not only does not concede the first line, but also with each round increases its advantage, which has already reached several dozen points. We haven’t lost on home turf this season, and we’ve only been tied in two games. This season, we are definitely outperforming our competitors in all respects. At the moment, the team shows excellent form, and absolutely nothing portends a decline in results, because the players give out a winning streak of eleven rounds. However, we have decided not to participate in the America’s Cup.”

And in turn, the Qatar national team also did not give a clear explanation about their refusal. Recently, the Qatari team had three consecutive defeats, but after them, the players gave a series of four draws. At the same time, it is worth noting that the Qatar national team has too short a bench: in the past two matches, they lost a left defender, as well as a defensive and right midfielder.

Recall that the national football teams of Qatar and Australia were invited teams to the tournament. In total, ten national teams were to take part in the competition.

The tournament will be held from June 11 to July 10, 2021.
